Most people have one of two distinctive types of beauty, static beauty or fluid beauty. Static beauty is a frozen moment in time, a two dimensional representation of human form that appeals to our visual senses. Magazine supermodels, movie stars, people who seem to be beautiful from any angle, in any light, at any time - these people have static beauty. The radiance they seem to project is as much a product of our culture and times as it is of their inner light. We often strive for this beauty because we want to believe that it represents the very soul of that person, often it does.

Ah, but a vast majority of us weren't blessed with this visual gift, and rather rely on our fluid beauty to shine with vivid brilliance. Fluid beauty is expressed in our "vibe", in how we carry ourselves, in the softness of our voice, the depth of our eyes. Fluid beauty flows like a deep wide river, expressing itself in elusive burst of intensity as well as hiding behind well-constructed walls of belief and projection. And herein lies my challenge as a true photographer

How do I use a two dimensional medium that represents life in momentary instants to capture fluid beauty? To show people on film as though they were Alive? This is where the artist comes into play. Yes, intimately understanding my equipment technically, reading light with infallible accuracy, and utilizing the latest in technology are all important. But these are just the tools; the real magic comes from the artist inside of me, from the soaring phoenix of passion that is my art

My approach at Alive Studios is to look inside of who you are, to listen to what you desire, to see your fluid beauty, and then magically transfer this to film. I take the time to be present in the moment, to help you express yourself freely and with beauty - to shine in radiance. Be it your family, your newborn infant, a best friend, or yourself - I will find your beauty, static or fluid, and bring it Alive on film.
